So I'm almost off... I am a blog virgin and this is my first post ever. I have set up this blog to keep my family and friends informed, up to date and (hopefully) entertained with my impending adventure.
Allons....
I have less than 48 hours until I leave Bend for Dakar. Armed with my yoga mat, banagrams and a deck of cards, I hope my 10 hour layover in Paris will fly by. Since Charles de Gaulle airport is out in the middle of nowhere, there really isn't enough time to go into the city to do anything and then return through security. Right now, I am working hard to cram all the donations I have gratefully collected into the duffel bag. While Senegal is the planned R&R layover, I hope that some of the research and meetings with women's organizations lead to future visits in this exciting country. I would love to be forced to use my french on a daily basis while also catching some waves and some great music at night.
